The IT/ITes sector has fuelled the growth of real estate in
Bangalore and some parts of the city have been influenced more by it than the
rest. Whitefield is one such area. This area in the eastern part of
Bangalore has transformed from a tranquil and sleepy settlement in the early
2000 to a happening suburb. It boasts of some of the best properties in Bangalore along with many technology parks,
luxury apartments, commercial buildings, special economic zones and captive
campuses.

It emerged as a major micro-market and slowly evolved as one of the most
preferred residential and commercial destinations among buyers. Vast expanses
of land available at cost-effective prices prompted real estate developers to
erect housing colonies in the area.
Whitefield is also known for its scenic beauty and in the past few
years, high-grade international schools and top class hospitals have come up in
the area. Because of its proximity to major IT centers, it is the
most-preferred destinations for Bangalore's cosmopolitan workforce. Realty
developers of the city have erected top class malls that attract customers to
this area.
However, there are certain problems that local authorities must
address at the earliest. Pollution, rush-hour traffic and water shortage are
some of the problems that persist. However, as the rush for properties continue
with the rising mid-income and upper mid-income population Whitefield remains
one of the most-profitable realty investment destinations in Bangalore.
